Did you know – more moisture is lost through the lips than any other part of the body?
Environmental factors such as the sun, wind and cold air can cause your lips to become chapped and dry. As tempting as it can be to pick and lick the dry skin, this will only prevent your lips from healing and this may aid in also developing cold sores if you are prone to getting them.
At Health and Serenity, we recommend that you use a daily sunscreen of a minimum of SPF40+ on both your face and lips, followed by a good quality lip balm that contains shea butter. Reapply this frequently throughout the day for optimum results. If you can, try to avoid using any other product on your lips whilst they are chapped as the remedy is to continuously introduce moisture to this delicate area.
